How should I prepare for my appointment?

To prepare for your appointment, aim to arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow yourself time to settle in, complete any necessary intake forms, and transition smoothly into your session. This unhurried arrival helps minimize stress and sets a relaxed tone right from the start. It also allows for you to maximize your time at the table. It’s best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and leave valuable items at home. If it's your first time, give yourself extra time so you can discuss your goals and preferences with your practitioner.

Do I need to undress completely for a session?

You do not need to undress completely for your session. The level of undress is always based on your level of comfort and the type of bodywork you receive. Many modalities—such as craniosacral therapy, sensory therapy, or Thai massage—can be done fully clothed, while others like integrative or deep tissue massage typically involve undressing to your level of comfort, with proper draping used at all times for your privacy and warmth. Undressing completely allows for more work to be done, especially for an integrative or deep tissue session, however, it is always up to you. Always communicate your preferences to your practitioner, and feel free to ask questions before your session begins so you feel at ease and secure throughout the experience.

Will I be covered/draped during the session?

Yes, you will be properly covered (draped) during your session at all times, except for the area being worked on. Your comfort and privacy are a top priority. Professional draping techniques ensure that you feel secure and relaxed, with only the specific part of your body exposed as needed during the treatment. Feel free to discuss any concerns or preferences with your practitioner so you can enjoy your session with confidence and peace of mind. Certain modalities can be done with the client clothed or partially clothed.

Is it normal to feel sore or tired after a session?

Yes, it is completely normal to feel sore or tired after a bodywork session, especially if it's your first time or if deeper techniques were used. This temporary discomfort is similar to what you might experience after exercising, as your muscles have been worked in new ways and old tension patterns are shifting. The soreness usually fades within 36 hours.

Can I request certain areas to be focused on or avoided during my session?

Yes, you can definitely request certain areas to be focused on or avoided during your session. Communicating your preferences to your practitioner helps tailor the session to your needs and comfort. Whether you want extra attention on a sore muscle or want to avoid a sensitive area, just let your practitioner know before or during the session.

How do you decide which modalities or techniques to use?

Every session at Co-Creator Bodywork is holistically tailored to you and your needs not just on a physical level, but on an emotional and spiritual one as well. Based on your intake form and whatever feels relevant in your body/mind the day of your treatment, your practitioner will choose from a wide array of techniques to use in combination with intuitive knowledge of support to address those needs specifically. Your input is always valued, however, so if you have any requests for specific work to be done and/or boundaries you have that day, please share those with your practitioner.
